The Sinopharm vaccine was the 6th vaccine to be authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its emergency listing.
It was developed as an inactivated virus vaccine, which works by teaching your body’s immune system to create antibodies against the actual virus.
Intemedical Potong Pasir has received approval under SAR to provide Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccinations at our center and is available at $58 NETT per dose..
1. How effective is the Sinopharm vaccine?
It is 79% effective against symptomatic infection and 79% effective in preventing hospitalization.
2. Who should get it?
Above 18 years of age
Not pregnant
No prior COVID-19 vaccinations (other than Sinopharm/Sinovac)
If ineligible for mRNA vaccine due to medical reasons
3. Travel Considerations
Those travelling to China will no longer require blood tests if they have had Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccination.
What if I have already received 2 doses of Sinovac/Sinopharm?
You will need 3 doses to be considered fully vaccinated from 1 Jan 2022. The third dose can be taken 3 months after the second jab.
If you’ve received 2 doses of Sinovac/Sinopharm before, current recommendation by MOH is to receive a mRNA vaccine as a booster dose if there are no contraindications. This would be done 5 months after.
